Bridge barrier is installed on bridges / overpasses / elevated highways and serves to prevent a car from driving off the roadway of these structures.
They also serve to prevent a vehicle from crossing the median and colliding with oncoming traffic on these structures. The bridge barrier can also be installed where it is not possible to install a barrier in the roadbed.
Compared to traffic barriers, bridge barriers have next features:
- Individuality of the design for attaching barriers to the foundational components of the bridge;
- Increased requirements for containement levels (from 250 to 600 kJ).
